Ziyi Zhang, star of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, is now in talks to reprise her role as the warrior princess Jen Yu in the upcoming sequel. According to EW.com, insiders say Zhang would appear in flashbacks to explain what happened to her character.
As previously announced, Yuen Wo Ping (who was the fight choreographer responsible for the first film’s memorable wirework) is directing the sequel titled Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: The Green Destiny. The cast already includes Crouching Tiger’s Michelle Yeoh as Yu Shu Lien as well as Ip Man’s Donnie Yen as Silent Wolf. Production is currently slated for March 2014. John Fusco (The Forbidden Kingdom, Hidalgo) wrote the script, adapted from the Wang Du Lu book Iron Knight, Silver Vase. Zhang will next be seen Kar-wai Wong’s The Grandmaster, on which Ping also served as the choreographer. That film opens in select theaters this weekend on August 23.
