While promoting the upcoming release of Thor: The Dark World, Marvel Studios boss Kevin Feige was asked about the chances of fans seeing a Thor 3. “Thor’s next adventure will be Age of Ultron,” Feige said in a recent video live chat. “So, that’s where all the Thor effort is going. But there are things you will see at the end of [The Dark World] that certainly hint towards and could lead towards a third Thor adventure if that’s what audiences want to see. We definitely have a story we’d like to tell.” Meanwhile, /Film asked Feige when fans could see the increasingly popular villain Loki (played by Tom Hiddleston) again. It won’t be in Marvel’s The Avengers: Age of Ultron. “Yeah, I don’t think it would be before Thor 3 if there is a Thor 3 and while we certainly have ideas of where we would like that to go, there are no specifics,” Feige said. “We have to see how this one does and then go from there.” Thor: The Dark World opens stateside November 8.

Will Kate Upton Be the Next Bond Girl?

Posted: October 30, 2013 in Movie

Does American model Kate Upton have the requisite charisma and feminine allure to be the next Bond girl in Sam Mendes’ untitled James Bond 24 flick? Because Upton and UK soap star Helen Flanagan are both being considered for the hotly contended role, according to UK rag The Sun. Flanagan has reportedly met with casting directors in Los Angeles to talk about the project, and according to the paper’s unidentified source “they felt she had a unique look, great figure and natural charm on screen.” But Flanagan may have competition from Upton, inching her way into the acting gig with small roles in The Farrelly’s The Three Stooges and next year’s Cameron Diaz-starring comedy The Other Woman. This is rumouriffic as all hell, so take it with a big grain of salt. It was also rumored Penelope Cruz was up for the role, which was later refuted. The next Bond film will reunite Skyfall director Sam Mendes and stars Daniel Craig, Ralph Fiennes, Naomie Harris and Ben Whishaw. Bond 24 is due for release November 6, 2015.

Last week Ben Kinglsey talked about a “Secret Marvel Project” he was working on, telling The Belfast Telegraph that the mysterious shoot involved many of the Iron Man 3 crew. Well Latino Review reckons they’ve got the skinny on what the project will be. Though it you haven’t yet seen Iron Man 3, it involves some plot points from that movie, so…

BEWARE OF SPOILERS AHEAD

As we all now know, Kingsley played actor Trevor Slattery in Iron Man 3 rather than the villain himself. According to Latino Review, the secret project is a Marvel One Shot in which “The REAL Mandarin is furious with Aldrich Killian and Ben Kingsley’s character Trevor Slattery for the mockery they made of the real Mandarin’s identity and legacy. The real Mandarin wants to set the record straight.”

Could Indiana Jones be the key to Han Solo’s return? A new rumor indicates that as part of Harrison Ford’s deal to return as the captain of the Millennium Falcon in Star Wars: Episode VII, the actor also wanted a commitment from Lucasfilm and Disney that a fifth Indiana Jones movie would happen. While he didn’t quite get that, an agreement was reportedly reached that would at least see an outline for Indy 5 being developed by the end of 2014. Disney reportedly also wanted a multi-film deal with Ford beyond Episode VII, which has been agreed upon, and which ties into this next point. Interestingly, Ford also is said to have wanted to see how Han would develop over “more than just” Episode VII, indicating that the character will indeed be around for most of the new trilogy and will not be killed off in the new film as some fans have speculated. Unless he winds up as a Force Ghost! Again, this is an unconfirmed rumor.

Rockstar has announced the first batch of add-on content for Grand Theft Auto Online. From early November, the free Beach Bum pack download will add new weapons and beach-themed vehicles that players will be able to use in both GTA Online and GTA V’s Story mode. The update will also come with new tattoos and hairstyles, as well as new Jobs including Gang Attacks, Survivals, Last Team Standings, Parachutes, Deathmatches and Races, all taking place on the beaches and coastal areas of Los Santos and Blaine County. Rockstar has also announced Social Club Events Weekends, where special rewards and bonuses will be available for GTA Online. These will range from limited-edition in-game Event Crate Drops to in-game discount specials. A new developer-hosted live-stream will also be started, offering prize pack giveaways. Finally, the Content Creator for custom-made Races and Deathmatches will be going live. Rockstar will keep an eye on exceptional creations and feature them on the Rockstar Newswire, as well as add a ‘Rockstar Verified’ stamp to them in-game. As is the case with the Beach Bum pack, the Content Creator is also a free download. Last week Rockstar announced the delay of compensation for GTA Online players following a tricky launch. There’s still no ETA on when we’ll see it now.

Ah, Deadpool… Will you ever get your due on the big screen? If Ryan Reynolds has anything to say about, then the answer to that is “yes”… but not for awhile yet. While talking to Yahoo Movies! in a recent interview, the actor explained that a Deadpool solo movie will get made “eventually,” but it’s really up to the studio of when that will be. “The movie’s actually very small,” Reynolds said. “There’s minimal impact to the studio, which is the way we’re kind of presenting it to them. We’re saying ‘Look, the budget is minimal. Therefore, can we do this the way it should be done?'”

Ryan Reynolds as Deadpool in X-Men Origins: Wolverine

In concept alone, Deadpool is a tough nut to crack, more so than other Marvel characters because he’s constantly breaking the fourth wall — in the most vulgar way possible — and that means an R rating. But, as Reynolds has made clear before, “[The movie] needs those elements… It’s very meta, I mean, the character knows he’s in a movie, he knows he’s in a comic book. He names studio executives in the script. So, it’s kind of a risky property. But, you know, we’ll see.” So will Deadpool ever get made? “In our lifetime? Yeah, I think so,” Reynolds said. “I think if I were a betting man it’ll get made, eventually. I mean it’s just been developed to high heaven. It has great people around it, so we’ll see.”

The World of Warcraft movie — called simply Warcraft — now has one of its lead actors: Travis Fimmel, star of History Channel’s Vikings. Variety reports that “after a lengthy search,” Legendary Entertainment has decided on Fimmel. A formal offer and deal still has to be made, but the trade says the actor will play one of the film’s four leads (though the specifics of the characters are unclear at this point).

Duncan Jones (Moon) will direct the film, which was written by Charles Leavitt. Paula Patton and Colin Farell have also been reported to be in the running for roles. Production is scheduled to get underway in early 2014.

We can all agree Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner/Hulk was one of the highlights of The Avengers, yes? Well, Marvel Studios thinks so too: The next Avengers film promises to include a pumped up proportion of Gamma fueled rage. A French website with the spellcheck-destroying name lavoixdunord.fr recently sat down with Kevin Feige, Marvel Studios’ president of production and info tease extraordinaire. When asked whether Hulk would be getting a new solo movie anytime soon, Feige demurred but recognized Hulk’s resonance with moviegoers: “[W]e wanted people to come out of Avengers saying The Hulk was their favorite character or at least on [sic] of their favorite. The fact that it did happen, was awesome. So, you know, all of the effort related to Hulk right know is going to Age of Ultron. It’s exciting, because [Ruffalo] hasn’t been in any other film, so you can expect to have a lot of Bruce Banner and Hulk in Age of Ultron.” Feige also says that both Scarlet Witch and Quicksliver will have “huge” parts in the new movie. Is anyone else getting the sense Avengers: Age of Ultron is going to be big?

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is shaping up to have more villains than an Arkham Asylum reunion. The Daily Bugle tumblr recently posted an “article” about the upcoming criminal trial of Dr. Curt Connors for the mayhem wrought by The Lizard in the first Spidey film, possibly dropping a few hints about the sequel’s cast of characters in the process. “A trial date has been set in the New York Appellate Court for alleged bio-terrorist Dr. Curt Connors. The former Oscorp biogenetics scientist has been indicted on twenty city and state counts, including trespassing, malicious destruction of property, theft of private property, aggravated assault, and using a weapon of mass destruction. Connors has pleaded ‘not guilty’ to all counts. It is expected his defense attorney, Anne Weying, will claim Connors was not responsible for the actions of his genetically transformed alter ego, the Lizard.” In the Earth-616 Universe, Anne Weying is married to Eddie Brock and eventually bonds with the alien symbiote to become She-Venom. And the mock article was “written by” Bugle reporter Ned Leeds, who just so happens to be the third alter ego of the Hobgoblin. It’s worth noting, however, that the two characters are mentioned strictly with regard to the regular jobs they held down prior to putting on costumes. Their inclusion could just be a wink to fans and have nothing to do with which villains will actually join Paul Giamatti’s Rhino and Jamie Foxx’s Electro in Amazing Spider Man 2. If these two really do show up in the film though, Leeds may need to start his new career as The Hobgoblin sooner rather than later because he is a terrible reporter. Leaving aside the fact that there is no New York Appellate Court, trials are conducted by, you know, trial courts, rather than courts of appeals. Also, pretty sure use of a weapon of mass destruction is a federal crime that gets you the death penalty. Might want to lead with that instead of trespassing, Ned. Amazing Spider Man 2 hits theaters May 2, 2014.
